The Function menu list contains the following function items:

  • Auto Warm Up

  • AEC

Auto Warm Up

The auto warm up feature is a convenient way to make sure that the machine component temperatures are optimum for machine operation. For more settings, locate under the Settings, Machine Settings, Auto Warm Up screen.

AEC (if equipped)

When enabled, the Automatic Engine Speed Control (AEC) automatically reduces engine speed when the machine is inactive. The AEC system is designed to reduce fuel consumption and noise. Lower engine speeds can also increase engine life.

The engine rpm will recover automatically to the setting of the engine speed dial when any hydraulic function is activated.

Operation of AEC is affected by the manual low idle switch. See the following table for the different modes in AEC.

Table 1
AEC Mode  AEC State  Position of Manual Low Idle Switch  Description of Mode
First stage  Disabled  OFF  The electronic controller automatically reduces engine speed by 100 rpm after there has been no hydraulic demand for approximately 3 seconds.
Second stage  Enabled  OFF  The AEC system will automatically reduce the engine rpm to approximately 1000 rpm after there has been no hydraulic demand for approximately 3 seconds.
Manual low Idle  Enabled or Disabled  ON  The engine speed is reduced to approximately 1000 rpm.

Note: The position of the engine speed dial has no relevance on the actions described in Table 1.
