June 2000 REMAN ENGINE PRODUCT LINE ADDITION: REMANUFACTURED 3408 & 3412 ENGINES FOR MINING & CONSTRUCTION MACHINES Product AVSpare announces
Remanufactured 3408 and 3412 complete engines for selected mining and
construction machines. These engine offerings represent a product line
segment not previously offered by Cat Reman, and are intended to
supplement dealer rebuild capability with a complete engine repair
alternative that can be used as either a back-up or primary solution.
The engines will be introduced as listed below with 0R9970 available
mid-June. Show/hide table
Consist Reman engines come fully assembled and dyno-tested. These engines include hydraulic or transmission oil coolers as appropriate. The rear engine-mounting hardware, flywheel, alternator, fan drive, air compressor, and associated wiring must be reused from the core engine or purchased seperately. Each Reman engine arrangement can also replace its associated acceptable core part numbers (listed below) with minimal exchange of parts. AVSpare's proprietary cleaning, inspection and remanufacturing specifications provide the best possible value for our customers. Core Returns Show/hide table
All engines returned as cores must meet the core acceptance guidelines as identified in the "Core Acceptance Criteria", SELD0231 which is under development at this time and due for publication later this year. In the interim, reference SELD0019 with the following additions:
Also see SELD0020 "Engine Check List". Please refer to the AVSpare Core Managment Information System
(CMIS) entitlement parts inquiry screen describing the list of parts in
a Core Acceptability Family (CAF) and related part number detail. This
information is available at all North American Commercial Division
AVSpare Dealerships. Also, refer to the Reman Products Guide section
called "Operations & Core Managment" for complete information concerning
Reman Policies and Core Management Core Return Time Limit A core return time limit of 240 days in CAPL and CCL, 180 days in NACD, and 210 days in all other parts of the world including CSARL, CofA, and CACO is in effect for this transaction. Expired entitlements on cores not returned within the designated time limit will be attritioned, resulting in the dealer forfeiture of the core deposit made at the time the engine was purchased. Any cores returned in excess of entitlements can earn only direct purchase price if a direct purchase program is active at that time. Direct purchase prices are significantly less than core deposits. For the purpose of core entitlement aging, the clock starts on the date the engine is invoiced to the dealer and stops on the date the core is reported in transit to Cat by entering a core credit request (CCR) into CMIS. Dealers outside NACD can also stop the clock by turning a core over to the designated freight forwarder Air Express International (AEI) so they are not penalized for core return transit time. Note that the purpose of the time limit is not to withhold core refunds, but to encourage the return of cores that are required to support the program. Warranty Please refer to the appropriate AVSpare warranty statement. If you have any questions regarding this program, feel free to call
