CHANGES TO CAMSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT KIT CORE ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA

Announcement

AVSpare Remanufactured Products Group is announcing changes to the core acceptance criteria for camshafts and camshaft kits (SELD0049-05). These changes have come as a result of Cat and TEPS dealers? input and AVSpare?s desire to establish easy core grading categories. Effective with inspections at Cat? core inspection facilities on January 1, 2004, the partial core refund will be eliminated. Camshafts with lobes that are chipped, missing material, or have signs of case crushing will now receive full core credit. Also, cams with journals that are spun, chipped, or have missing material will also receive full core credit. However, add charges will still apply where appropriate for any missing gears from camshaft assemblies and any missing rocker arms or lifters from camshaft kits. The Inspection Tips section of SELD0049-05 spells out the number of lifters or rocker arms by model.

Media Availability

For complete details, please refer to Reman Camshaft Acceptance Criteria SELD0049-05. The new criteria will be available on the dealer extranet at https://reman.cat.com effective December 1, 2003.

In addition to this website, copies of the revised criteria will be mailed to holders of the Remanufactured Products Guide. Dealers can also order the revised criteria (SELD0049-05) through normal literature order.
