------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from escaping fluid under pressure.

If a pressure indication is shown on the indicator, push the release valve in order to relieve pressure before removing any hose from the radiator.

------ WARNING! ------

Failure to follow all safety guidelines prescribed in this document and by governing authorities and regulatory agencies may result in severe injury or death of personnel or machine damage.

------ WARNING! ------

Do not operate or work on this machine unless you have read and understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manual. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Contact any AVSpare dealer for replacement manuals. Proper care is your responsibility.

If you suspect that the coolant temperature sensor is inaccurate, perform the following procedure:

Note: Ensure that the coolant level is at the correct level before performing this test.

  1. Turn off the engine.

  2. Allow the engine to cool.

  3. Relieve the system pressure. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "System Pressure Release" for the detailed procedure to release the system pressure.

  4. Drain the coolant.

  5. Remove plug (1) from the regulator housing.

  6. Install Tooling T2.

Use a Tooling T3, T4, and 5P-2721 Nut to connect the Tooling T2

  7. Connect Cat® Electronic Technician (ET) to the service tool connector.

Test Procedure

Note: Ensure that the coolant level is at the correct level before performing this test.

  1. Start Cat ET and multitool.

  2. Start and run the engine until the temperature reaches the desired range according to the multi tool thermometer.

  3. Monitor the coolant temperature on Cat ET. Monitor the coolant temperature on the multi tool thermometer.

  4. Compare the coolant temperature on Cat ET to the coolant temperature on the multi tool thermometer. If the two measurements are about equal, the sensor is okay. If the two measurements are not about equal, there may be a problem with the sensor. Install a new sensor and verify that the problem is resolved.
