Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Turn off the diesel exhaust fluid supply to the dosing cabinet.

  2. Turn off the power supply to the dosing cabinet.

  3. Wait 30 seconds, then turn off the air supply to the dosing cabinet.

  4. Remove top panel (1).

  5. Disconnect harness assembly (2).

  6. Disconnect hose assemblies (3).

  7. Loosen clamp (5) and remove hose (4).

  8. loosen nut (9) and remove bolt (6). Position strap (8) aside. Repeat for the remaining strap.

  9. Remove diesel exhaust fluid tank (7).

    Note: Mark the sending unit and the diesel exhaust fluid tank for reinstallation.

  10. Remove bolts (10) and remove sending unit (11). Remove gasket (12).

  11. Remove bolts (13) and remove level sensor (14). Remove gasket (15).

  12. Remove plug (16). Remove O-ring seal (17).

  13. Remove adapter (18). Remove O-ring seal (19).

  14. Remove plugs (20) and (21). Remove O-ring seals (22) and (23).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install diesel exhaust fluid tank (7) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten plugs (16) and (21) to a torque of 11 ± 3 N·m (97 ± 27 lb in).

    2. Tighten plugs (20) to a torque of 28 ± 5 N·m (21 ± 4 lb ft).

    3. Tighten adapter (18) to a torque of 40 ± 6 N·m (30 ± 4 lb ft).

    4. Tighten bolts (10) in an X pattern to a torque of 5 ± 1 N·m (44 ± 9 lb in).
