Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.


------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.

Steam can cause personal injury.

Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.

Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.


  1. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Disconnect hoses (2) and harness assembly (3). Disconnect diesel exhaust fluid line (4).

  3. Remove bolts (5) and diesel exhaust fluid injector (1).

  4. Remove gasket (6) and discard. Remove seal (7) and discard.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install diesel exhaust fluid injector (1) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Replace gasket (6) with a new gasket. Replace seal (7) with a new seal.

    2. Apply Tooling (A) to bolts (5). Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 5 ± 0.5 N·m (44 ± 4 lb in).

    3. Retighten bolts (5) to a torque of 5 ± 0.5 N·m (44 ± 4 lb in).

    4. Turn bolts (5) an additional 90 +/- 5 degrees.

    5. Apply Tooling (B) to the O-ring seal inside of diesel exhaust fluid line (4).
