Start By:

  1. Remove the electric starting motor.

  2. Remove the crankcase rear seal.

  3. Remove the power take-off drive group.

  1. If equipped, remove oil pan insulation (2). Remove bolts (1) from flywheel housing (3). Discard bolts (1).

  2. Attach Tooling (A) (not shown) to both sides of flywheel housing (3). The weight of flywheel housing is approximately 140 kg (309 lb).

  3. Remove bolts (4) and remove flywheel housing (3). Discard bolts (4).

Installation Procedure

    Note: Prior to assembly, the flywheel housing and mounting surfaces must be free of dirt, water, sealants, and other containments.

  1. Install flywheel housing (3) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply Tooling (B) to the top of the oil pan that mounts with flywheel housing (3). Flywheel housing (3) must be mounted within 10 minutes of applying Tooling (B).

    2. Hand tighten bolts (1) and (4). From left to right, tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 40 ± 5 N·m (30 ± 4 lb ft). Tighten again to a torque of 47 ± 5 N·m (35 ± 4 lb ft).

    3. Use the above tightening sequence to tighten bolts (4) according to the steps below:

      (1) Tighten bolts 1-9 to a torque of 100 ± 20 N·m (74 ± 15 lb ft).

      (2) Tighten bolts 10-23 to a torque of 40 ± 10 N·m (30 ± 7 lb ft).

      (3) Retighten bolts 1-9 to a torque of 135 ± 20 N·m (100 ± 15 lb ft).

      (4) Retighten bolts 10-23 to a torque of 50 ± 10 N·m (37 ± 7 lb ft).
