General Information

Graphic Color Description

Color-coding of targeted components, or sections of a part, is used to communicate a required action.

This table shows the different colors and what is represented when use in a graphic.

(Blue) The primary component of focus for a particular step. Target or primary component to be installed or removed. Installation implied unless otherwise noted with a symbol.

(Yellow) Components disconnected, connected, or placed aside for access, but not removed. Highlighted areas of adjustment, inspection, or special attention.

(Cyan) Special tools or other equipment required for use in a particular step.

(Light Gray) Components used for reference.

(Magenta) Any fastener, retainer, or electrical connector used to install or remove the primary component.

Visual Service Procedures Symbols per J2892

Position - To locate the desired or intended location

Service Indicator - Refer to a Technical Manual, Warning, Caution, or Notice

Relieve - To eliminate the pressure or force on a part or system to reduce a pressure, load, or weight on a device

Drain - To remove fluid until desired level.

Operation and Maintenance Manual - Refer to a procedure in an Operation and Maintenance Manual

Remove - To take off or eliminate component

Disconnect Line (Hose Disconnect) - To remove from a fluid line (hydraulic, fuel, air, brake, refrigerant, etc.), to separate fluid transmission connectors

Attach - To connect together or to fasten on something.

Push - To apply force to cause motion away from the person or machine exerting the force.

Lower - To drop to a reduced energy position. To reduce the level of material in a container. To cause to descend.

Support - To bear the weight of an object.

Weight - A heavy object, especially one being lifted or carried

Repeat - To perform once more. Iterate to do, make, or perform again

Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.

Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.

Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines.

  3. Relieve the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, M0117473, "", "System Pressure Release".

  5. Drain the hydraulic system oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, M0117473, "", "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for proper draining and refilling procedures.

Installation Procedure

Install the boom cylinders in the reverse order of removal.
