Some 423-6434 Liquid Level Sensor Gp have been manufactured with an incorrect o-ring installed. This condition may lead to water ingress in the sensor and a 97–15 or 97-16 diagnostic code may become active.

Twisting the wires during maintenance causes excessive strain on the wires and may result in wire breaks. Broken wires on the 423-6434 Liquid Level Sensor Gp are causing 97-3 diagnostic code to become active.

If troubleshooting procedures lead to a replacement water in fuel sensor, install a new 423-6434 Liquid Level Sensor Gp. Ensure that the replacement sensor is equipped with a blue o-ring. Do not use a replacement sensor with a black o-ring. Do not use any lubricant on the o-ring.

Do not remove or loosen the water in fuel sensor from the fuel filter during regular maintenance.

Disconnect the water in fuel sensor at the harness connector before removing or loosening the fuel filter bowl. Do not loosen or remove the bowl with the sensor connected to the application harness.
